Onder Kimyon

Önder has acquired advanced technical skills in various areas such as biological assays, aerobic and anaerobic microbial culturing, analytical techniques, microcosm treatability testing, and molecular biology tools like qPCR, sequencing, and molecular cloning. He possesses significant expertise in conducting microcosm treatability studies to evaluate the remediation of chlorinated solvents, hydrocarbons, and pesticides in soil and groundwater.

In addition to investigating and optimising bioremediation via bioaugmentation, biostimulation and monitored natural attenuation processes, Önder has evaluated enhanced remediation methods. These include complementary abiotic chemical reduction (ISCR), thermal stimulation and surfactants to improve bioavailability and chemical oxidation (ISCO).

More recently, Onder has been developing mycroremediation solutions for long chain hydrocarbons and recalcitrant low solubility/large molecule contaminants such as PAHs and PCBs.
