qPCR Target Information
Fungi are eukaryotic organisms found in both terrestrial and aquatic environments that are known for their tolerance to environmental pollutants. They use enzymes like laccases, cellulases, oxidases, and oxygenases to degrade toxic compounds and persistent pollutants such as PAHs, petroleum hydrocarbons, pesticides, textile dyes, and other organic contaminants. Quantifying fungal abundance assesses the potential for mycoremediation in contaminated sites.
